The Sweetest Song
by *seekingmysoul

There was a legend of what real love is and how no matter how much you try to keep it inside or forget it, its impossible.

There's a mystical little bird that one day went out flying, it wanted more than anything to feel complete. As the days passed it became sad and withdrawn, not wanting to live in that loneliness always. An older and much wiser Bird spoke to the little bird, "why are you so sad and why do you not sing as before?" The little bird said, I am very lonely and feel that something is missing in my life. The Older Bird said, you must wait till you find the love of your life and when you do no matter what the sacrifice or what you must give up. You will do for that love...even to die is a small thing. No love no matter who tells you is impossible, you will do for that love of your life and at its end you will sing the most beautiful song of all. Even if it's the last song you sing, it will be your best..

Keep searching and when you find it, you will know in your soul and do what you must to be together. Many months passed and one day as the little bird flew he looked down and saw the most beautiful rosebud ever seen. It was just opening and the bird could not resist getting close. As the little bird got closer its heart filled with this magical feeling that filled the little bird with happiness like it had never known. Wanting to be near it always and live in that happiness...the time passed and the rose would open a little more each day and the little bird would sing to it but could not get close because of the large huge thorns that surrounded it.

Finally the little bird remembered the words of the wise older bird no sacrifice is too great...seemed to echo in its mind and soul. My rose will know that I love her and will remember me even if we can't be to together I will sing my most beautiful song ever. Circling the rose it flew around it and said "I love you my rose, and for me there is no other but you so for this last time I will see you, I want to give you the only gift I have...my song for you.

The little bird flew high into the air and suddenly turned and flew towards his beloved rose. As the thorn pierced its heart deeply, there was no pain as the song that came out filled the air magically, singing the sweetest song of its life. The beautiful white rose began to turn a deep shade of red as the singing grew weaker the little bird, looked at his love for the last time and said, " I will love you forever and nothing will change that...for you are my only love." The rose seemed to have tears all over it, as its petals turned a deep shade of crimson, as the little bird fell to the ground dead. Suddenly a gust of wind came and the rose began to drop its petals one by one, they swirled in a downward motion, landing on top of the body of the little bird...covering it like a blanket...the rose gave all of its life and love to the little bird as they died together.

A few days later they seemed to disappear except for one bright red petal from the rose and a tiny feather that had pierced the petal binding them together as the wind came and lifted that one symbol of sacrifice and true love, they were lifted into the heavens to be together forever in God's heaven.

Love may not always flourish in this earth, time and distance can separate but nothing can kill a love that is true. Love will always survive even beyond this life and when you find it...never let it go no matter what it may cost you... those words I love you will last beyond eternity.

The End

Dedicated to all my nephews and Nieces, who keep their Auntie, searching for that something to say, and spins tales that hopefully teach and touch the heart in compassion for others and never lose their ability to hope & dream.
Something I wrote 2 years ago, was thinking of deleting it but oh well...whatever!
